As Jubin gently stroked his broad back, he buried his face in Jubin’s shoulder, nuzzling him like a spoiled child.

“And why should the pregnancy be your responsibility alone? I have to take responsibility too. Ever heard of co-parenting?”

He continued to rub his forehead against Jubin’s, his voice sounding much more drained.

“Even if you beg me to go raw—even if you’re desperate for it—I’m still going to use a condom. And I’ll hold back as much as I can.”

He had seemed so excited on the way back from the hospital, but his expression had darkened after their recent conversation. Jubin couldn’t help but worry.

    “Are you… upset?”

    “Not upset, just…”

    “Just…?”

He casually laid bare his true feelings, as if it were no big deal.

“I was just trying to coast my way into marriage, and you caught me red-handed.”

“What does that even mean?” Jubin let out a short, incredulous laugh. “You actually thought about marriage over a mere Heat?”

“A mere Heat?” Zion snapped back, clearly offended. “Of course I thought about marriage. I mean, not that it’ll happen, but if you were to get pregnant, we’d need to finish the wedding photos before your bump shows. We’d have to hold the wedding as soon as possible. We’d do a maternity shoot when you’re at your most beautiful, and if you want, we could even go on a babymoon. We’d take a life-defining photoshoot in a scenic spot, and then take the baby with us on our honeymoon…”

“Wait, wait, stop!” Jubin cut him off urgently.

Zion just stared at him, genuinely confused as to what he’d done wrong.

“Wait, did I just filter out what you said?”

Jubin asked, trying to pin down the exact words. The conversation felt too detached from reality.

Zion let out a heavy sigh, his gaze filled with disappointment. “Don’t you enjoy talking about this stuff with me, Sunbae?”

His voice sounded genuinely wronged, as if Jubin had just snatched away all his joy.

The truth was, every time Zion brought up distant topics like marriage, weddings, honeymoons, and babies, Jubin felt a wave of embarrassment and a total lack of reality. Naturally, the pressure was immense, making it nearly impossible to just sit back and listen.

“It’s not that I don’t enjoy it…” Jubin struggled to find the right words, desperate not to hurt Zion’s feelings. It wasn’t that he disliked the idea.

“I’m just… not used to this kind of conversation.”

Jubin lowered his head, averting his gaze. Even the impending Heat didn’t feel real.

It sounded like a major crisis, but since it didn’t feel real, it just seemed vague. This was part of the reason he’d chosen to stay single—he hated dealing with such heavy topics.

“It feels like it’s happening to someone else,” he murmured.

A warm hand cupped Jubin’s cheek.

“Let’s talk about this kind of thing more often. After all, it’s our future.”

Our future. Not even a hypothetical future—he said our future.

I’ve never met a man who pushes his love on me this way before.

Then again, maybe I’ve just never met anyone this decent.

    No, let’s be honest.

From the Marking to the Heat, Zion was the first person Jubin actually wanted to let in, even when he pushed this hard.

I think I’m completely stained by this man.

“Alright, in that case, let’s find the best taffy.”

    “Ah, I’d forgotten.”

Zion dumped the taffy he’d taken from the freezer onto the table with a clatter. They were all different shapes and sizes.

He’d heard Director Bae Eun-hye had been very startled when he’d collapsed on set. He felt guilty for causing trouble not only for her but for the entire crew, so he wanted to finish this small task as quickly as possible.

“How about we start with number three?”

Jubin took the initiative, picking up a piece that seemed like a good benchmark.

“No, let’s start with number one.”

No matter how Zion looked at it, number one was small—too small to be caught clearly on camera. He must have a reason, Zion thought, and readily agreed.

“Alright, let’s start with number one.”

Jubin unwrapped the first piece of taffy and held it out to him.

    “Go on, eat it.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, he took the taffy and popped it into his mouth.

    “How’s the size?”

    “Hmm, a bit small.”

“Right? That’s why we should have started with number three. Number one was obviously too small—”

He was so focused on giving immediate feedback that he didn’t even notice when the man’s hand clamped firmly around his jaw and neck.

    He was completely defenseless.

Only after their lips met did he realize the man’s true intentions.

Ah, he just wanted to kiss me this whole time.

The melted taffy slid across Jubin’s tongue, sweet and warm.

“…Alright, shall we try number two?”

Jubin glanced at the table. There were still about ten pieces of taffy left.

“…My mouth’s going to be so sweet.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll give you mine when you’re sick of yours.”

Zion bit the edge of the plastic wrapper, then jerked his head to the side. The taut plastic tore open with a soft snap.

“My Heat hasn’t even started yet, and you’re already doing this…”

    “Hyung.”

The sudden proximity brought Zion’s breath warm against Jubin’s skin.

He had only called him Hyung, but the word struck Jubin with a lethal intensity.

    “Now, focus.”

I don’t know how long I’d been asleep. My body felt strangely heavy when I woke up, and my T-shirt was plastered to my back, soaked with sweat.

    “…So hot.”

My whole body felt damp, as if I’d just been pulled out of the water. When I tried to breathe, the air in my lungs felt thick and stifling, refusing to leave.

Sweat dripped down my neck and forehead, leaving a sticky, uncomfortable mess. I got up and headed straight for the bathroom.

I didn’t even think about taking my clothes off as I walked. I just stepped into the shower and turned on the cold water. A refreshing stream poured over my head.

My body must have been burning up; the cold water felt like it was actually cooling me down.

The feeling of the sticky sweat being washed away made me feel a little more alive, but I couldn’t bring myself to turn the water off.

    “…It’s too hot.”

Had a tropical night suddenly returned from the dead? Jubin stood there for a long time, letting the water pour over him, when the bathroom light flicked on with the click of the door opening.

    “Sunbae…?”

Zion, awakened by the commotion, approached, his brow furrowed against the bright light.

“What are you doing in here with your clothes on?”

    “…Ah, it’s just… so hot…”

The hoarse voice that escaped his throat felt like it didn’t even belong to him. Zion rushed forward and shut off the cold water.

“You’re going to catch a cold like this.”

The moment the cold water stopped, the heat that had been trapped inside his body flooded his mind, making him dizzy.

“Ah, it’s too hot. I can’t stand it.”

In the end, Jubin shoved Zion out of the shower stall and turned the cold water back on. As the chill drenched his head, he finally felt like he could breathe.

Zion, who had been shoved away in confusion, spoke with a heavy, worried tone.

“Sunbae, I think you’re going into heat.”

    “…Heat?”

Heat? Just closing his eyes for a moment sent a wave of heat rushing all the way to the back of his sockets.

    “Sunbae, just wait here.”

Zion hurriedly left the bathroom. A soft beep echoed in the air—the sound of the air conditioner turning on. Jubin stood still under the water, listening to the frantic sounds of Zion preparing something. His mind was a complete mess, unable to figure out what to do first.

“Sunbae, you can come out now.”

Zion turned off the water and quickly began to dry Jubin’s wet hair with a towel. Though Jubin’s skin felt chilled from the prolonged exposure to the water, his scalp and the roots of his hair still felt scorching hot where the towel touched.

Ignoring Zion’s attempts to dry him off, Jubin simply collapsed onto the floor, lying right where the air conditioner’s breeze hit him most directly.

“Do you want to catch a cold after your Heat? You need to dry your hair.”

Zion gently shook Jubin’s hair out with a towel, then began peeling off his wet clothes while trying to soothe him.

“Is it really a good idea to have the AC on full blast in this autumn weather?”

“It’s fine. If you’re cold, you can go to the living room. I’ll be okay on my own.”

    Suddenly, Zion’s phone rang loudly.

He checked the caller ID and looked back at Jubin, his eyes filled with worry that refused to fade.

It seemed like an urgent call, but he clearly had no intention of leaving Jubin alone right now. Jubin finally managed to speak.

    “…Go take the call.”

    “But…”

His voice was thick with apology and concern.

“Nothing is going to happen in the few minutes you’re gone.”

Zion stepped into the living room to answer the phone, yet he kept glancing back at Jubin’s state. After a few moments, as if his manager had asked him for something, he hurried back up the stairs to the loft.

The cool breeze had chased away the heat, yet a heavy, cloying warmth still surged from deep within his gut.

His senses were on high alert, and the lingering scent of Zion’s pheromones clinging to every corner of the room was driving him mad. The memory of Zion’s unique scent when he was drenched in sweat made Jubin’s lower body ache with a sharp, throbbing need.

    He needed Zion. Right now.

    “…Zion.”

He had just assured the man he could stay away, yet here he was, crawling out of the room on all fours, desperate to inhale the scent of Zion’s sweat-soaked skin.

The temperature difference between the air-conditioned room and the living room was stark. Perhaps his senses had become hypersensitive to temperature as well as pheromones, because the moment he stepped out, the air felt stifling.

    “…So hot,” he whimpered.

As his body temperature continued to climb, the heat surged to his head, trapping him in a suffocating embrace.

His vision blurred as if he were drunk, and the voice that escaped his lips gradually dissolved into a sob.

    “…H-Hee… Jion…”

The memory of pheromone-laced sweat dripping onto his face when he was held in the other man’s arms floated through his mind.

    “Ugh…”

    His aching cock finally hardened.

It felt like it would burst if he didn’t release it immediately. He stopped crawling, reached down, and began to masturbate.
