Chapter 48
by LhaoziChapter 48: We’ll See It Tomorrow Morning
“Then let’s calculate it by the month: 30 Tier-1 crystal cores, or 15 Tier-2 crystal cores, or 10 Tier-3 crystal cores per month. By analogy, the higher the grade of the crystal core, the quantity decreases proportionally.”
After a moment’s thought, Qin Xi added a line:
“However, this is just a transaction among ourselves, so there’s no need to seek out excessively high-grade crystal cores—safety should still remain the priority.”
Although conducting transactions was necessary to prevent everyone from getting into the bad habit of taking things for granted, Qin Xi didn’t want them risking their lives hunting high-level crystal cores, only for mishaps to occur!
At present, each of the three held 9 Tier-1 crystal cores. After a brief discussion among themselves, they ultimately decided to each purchase 5 days of spatial storage access from Qin Xi first.
Qin Xi harvested 15 crystal cores in one go.
Bai Hanyue and the other two were very thoughtful; among the 15 crystal cores, 4 were cyan-gray and 5 were purple, matching the supernatural abilities of Qin Xi and Qin Song perfectly.
With less than two hours left before dusk, the group didn’t plan on heading out again.
Qin Song’s supernatural ability had reached Tier 3; not only his elemental power, but his mental strength was growing as well.
He retrieved several metal frames from the hospital, using his ability to melt them into a solid metal sheet to seal off the second-floor stairwell completely. Not only could anything outside fail to enter, but even a sliver of the scenery above remained completely obscured.
The group picked the TCM physical therapy room on the second floor as their resting place for tonight.
The TCM physical therapy room was a single room that had been knocked through to equal the size of three rooms.
Four massage beds had originally been set up inside, two of which were taken away by Qin Xi, leaving two remaining.
Qin Xi pulled out a single bed alongside a sofa.
Excluding the two people on night watch, it was just enough for three people to sleep tonight.
Having set up the room, Bai Hanyue walked up to Qin Xi’s side, whispering softly:
“Sister Xi.”
Qin Xi was currently pondering what to eat for dinner. Hearing her voice, she turned her head to look at her:
“What’s wrong?”
She then saw Bai Hanyue point her finger in the direction of the doorway:
“Could you come to the restroom with me?”
Qin Xi agreed readily. Giving Qin Song a heads-up, both grabbed their weapons and stepped out.
The restroom on the second floor was located right at the far end of the corridor. Reaching the restroom, Bai Hanyue went inside first while Qin Xi waited outside.
Over the past two days, they had operated this way—at least two people went together when using the restroom. Even back in the village when resolving things in another room, no one acted alone to prevent accidents.
While Bai Hanyue used the restroom, Qin Xi stood before the small restroom window, looking outside.
Bright daylight still lit up the sky, yet a dusk-like ambiance had already settled over the environment.
The floodwater outside had receded to half the height of the first floor, appearing roughly two meters deep.
The flood waterline left visible marks along the building walls.
For now, the detailed situation on the streets remained out of view; most importantly, the number of zombies outside couldn’t be seen.
Qin Xi slowly withdrew her line of sight. Though obscured for now, we’ll see it tomorrow morning for sure!
Bai Hanyue quickly stepped out of the restroom, swapping places for Qin Xi to enter.
Afterward, the two walked back together.
From a distance, they spotted Qin Song standing near the stairwell in the corridor, his back leaning against the wall with his head lowered.
Hearing the commotion on this end, he turned his head over, his gaze landing with precision onto Qin Xi.
Looking at Qin Song, Qin Xi guessed instantly that he had come out out of worry. Sure enough, seeing her walk over, Qin Song straightened his body, silently following behind her on the way back.
Upon returning, the guys went to take care of their hygiene needs as well. Qin Song then pulled the medical room door shut, using his metallic ability to fuse the door lock into a single seamless piece.
Qin Xi fetched a round dining table. After a brief discussion among themselves, the group decided to eat a delicious meal tonight!
Qin Xi planned to cook a meal of malatang spicy hotpot!
She possessed fresh vegetables and soup bases stashed away previously, while Bai Hanyue and the others had vegetables gathered from the mountain village, along with instant noodles and milk.
Qin Xi pulled out additional rolled meats, fish balls, and beverages.
For items Bai Hanyue and the others couldn’t provide, each contributed one crystal core alongside their labor to offset the cost.
And so, after Qin Xi brought out all the ingredients, she could sit back on the sofa to rest.
The task of cooking was handed over to Bai Hanyue and Li Zekai.
However, this also reminded Qin Xi that while her own stash of food and daily necessities was largely complete, Bai Hanyue and the other two needed to hoard some food for themselves.
In that case, starting tomorrow when they went out, they could try to focus their movements around shopping malls and supermarkets!
Sitting on the sofa, Qin Xi’s thoughts drifted into her system space while she mulled things over.
For the upgrade tasks, only the requirement of killing 200 zombies remained unfulfilled.
However, the crops planted inside the system needed tending as well.
She looked toward the fields beside the green grassland, discovering to her surprise that the wheat had actually matured!
The moment she looked over, a system prompt was triggered immediately:
[Ding—Wheat has matured. Please harvest as soon as possible!]
Qin Xi’s brow twitched slightly—looks like it was time to work again!
Before harvesting the wheat, however, she took another look at the cornfield and the rice paddy.
The corn stalks had fully grown; two-finger-thick ears of corn could be seen sprouting out, though some time remained before full maturity.
Over by the rice paddies, a fertilization prompt appeared.
Qin Xi applied One-Touch Fertilization to the rice paddies first, then redeemed One-Touch Harvesting.
In a mere blink of an eye, the one-mu wheat field turned completely bare.
A system prompt sounded by Qin Xi’s ear:
[Congratulations on harvesting 1,000 jin of wheat. First crop harvest reward: Strength Potion ×1 (Drinking increases Strength by 30%), wheat awaiting processing.]
Strength Potion?
Qin Xi’s eyes lit up—this reward was fantastic, being precisely something she could use!
No matter how she used her spatial supernatural ability, it remained support-oriented. Facing zombies and mutated animals, she mostly had to rely on her own reflexes and physical capability.
Although awakening a supernatural ability enhanced one’s physical constitution, before her body was fully trained up, facing zombies still posed danger.
If the system could provide Strength Potions, could it also provide Agility Potions? Or potions for speed, flexibility, and the like?
With that thought, Qin Xi opened the System Shop immediately, searching for Agility Potions!
To her surprise, it actually popped up!
In the very next second, however, her smile vanished!
Clearly labeled beneath the item were the words: [Not For Sale].
Her expression froze, instantly feeling somewhat disappointed.
She had been thinking about buying a few bottles for Qin Song to boost his stats as well.
Now she could only give up.
She could only let it be, then turned to look at the prompt mentioning that the harvested wheat required processing.
Yet she hadn’t stocked up on processing machinery of this sort—how was it supposed to be processed?
Right at that moment, Qin Xi suddenly remembered that Workbench awarded previously!
Faint ideas began to form in her mind.
The Workbench was set up right beside the Warehouse.
Qin Xi looked at that light-green tabletop, above which floated small text: [Enable Workbench (Yes) (No)]
Qin Xi chose (Yes) without hesitation, seeing a pop-up prompt appear immediately:
[Workbench enabled. Current raw material: 1,000 jin of wheat. Processable. Process now?]
Qin Xi selected (Yes) once more.
In the very next instant, following a chiming [Ding—], the Workbench emitted a humming zzzt-zzzt vibration!
