Chapter 28
by GideonChapter 28: The Puppet Master – 4
“Ah la la, little one, how can you help someone else cheat like that…?”
Seeing that his disguise had been exposed right from the beginning, “Qing Guizhu” raised a hand and gently tapped his cheek, looking somewhat troubled under Tu Jin’s wary gaze.
His refined, aristocratic demeanor crumbled almost instantly. He tilted his head to the side. Although his tone sounded irritated, his eyes held a smile, along with an indescribable hint of wickedness.
“Cheating isn’t something a good child should do… Little one, don’t you agree?”
As the final syllable fell, the little puppet, who had already been trembling, practically wished she could curl herself into a ball.
She released Tu Jin’s collar and clamped both hands tightly over her mouth. Tears streamed down her cheeks like pearls spilling from a broken necklace.
Tu Jin had never seen the little puppet behave like this before. His gaze turned bone-chillingly cold.
Even when someone wanted to beat a dog, they should consider its owner’s feelings first. And the little puppet was practically a precious treasure whom he had always held in the palm of his hand.
The way this “Qing Guizhu” was behaving was no longer simply an insult to his dignity. It was outright humiliation.
With that thought, Tu Jin stood up. Amid the inexplicable anger rising in his chest, he completely tucked the little puppet into his embrace, covering her head and hiding her from view.
Meeting “Qing Guizhu’s” gaze, he released the full pressure of his S-rank aura, gradually bearing down on the other man.
“Has no one ever told you that when you’re on someone else’s territory, you should at least observe the host’s rules?”
Didn’t he understand that even a powerful dragon couldn’t overpower a local snake?
His threatening tone was completely undisguised. Unexpectedly…
Before the “Qing Guizhu” opposite him could even respond, the little puppet in his arms immediately stared at him with eyes so wide that they looked ready to pop out of their sockets.
The next second—
She struggled desperately, half crying and half flailing, until her little head emerged from Tu Jin’s embrace.
The tiny puppet turned her head with considerable effort, looking pitifully toward “Qing Guizhu” at the doorway, whose lips carried a faint, ambiguous smile.
“Wuwuwu, big brother, please listen to my explanation! I don’t know Tu… I’m not familiar with him… I mean, there’s been a misunderstanding!”
Clutching what little remained of her already endangered conscience, the little puppet explained with an overwhelming desire to survive.
“Big brother, please listen to my excuses… I mean, explanation! Tu Jin is an idiot! There’s something wrong with his brain! Big brother, please don’t hold it against him, okay? He’s no fun! He’s really, really no fun at all!”
Tu Jin, who had just been declared an idiot: …?
Storm, who was being controlled by “Qing Guizhu” and forced to stand there like a background prop, felt as though a green hat had suddenly appeared over Tu Jin’s head.
Storm: …Tsk.
A lapdog is still a lapdog. In the end, all that devotion really does amount to nothing!
Buddy, just turn back! There’s no happy ending for someone who insists on being a lapdog!
Unfortunately, Tu Jin was completely oblivious to Storm’s heartfelt advice.
He stared at the little puppet, who could only be described as having defected to the enemy right in the middle of battle, in utter disbelief. He was so furious that he actually laughed.
However—
Tu Jin was getting angry too soon.
The little puppet proceeded to demonstrate through her actions that her ability to infuriate him far exceeded anything he could have imagined.
Seeing that he made no effort whatsoever to cooperate with her explanation, the little puppet suddenly jumped up and planted a hand firmly on his head, forcefully pressing it downward.
Caught completely off guard, Tu Jin actually followed the force of her little hand and lowered his head.
And just like that, she made him bow to “Qing Guizhu” right in front of everyone.
Leaving aside his life before entering the instance, ever since arriving in this instance, Tu Jin had enjoyed a life in which he could get whatever he wanted. After surviving for so long, he had practically never encountered anything he couldn’t handle.
Yet now, he was completely dumbfounded.
A bow?
He had gone through his entire life without even lowering his head to another person, and today, he had actually been made to bow?
Tu Jin’s mind was practically buzzing. His thoughts went completely blank.
“You…”
He raised his head, staring fixedly at the little puppet. Even his voice had changed.
Unfortunately, the little puppet clearly couldn’t understand how difficult this was for Tu Jin to accept. She even looked at him with an expression of utter disappointment, as though he were beyond saving.
Then, she silently mouthed a few words at him:
Play dumb! Hurry up!
Tu Jin: …Ha, hahahahaha?
