Chapter 14: The Doll Is Too Delicate to Take Care of Herself (7)

Tu Jin struggled with his decision for a long time.

    Finally—

Just as Ye Jiujiu was about to fall asleep—

“Are you done crying? Can you finally listen to a few words of reason?”

    Tu Jin’s tone was calm.

After thinking it over again and again, he decided that, between his pride and the points this doll could bring him, the latter was more important. He would give her one last chance.

There was no helping it. Considering this doll’s skills, if he couldn’t make her work for him, he would have to destroy her to feel safe.

    However…

There was no reason to make life difficult for himself. Especially when it came to forcing himself to do something outside his area of expertise—such as the absurd notion of making him actually try to please someone.

    So…

He decided to let the one who had created the problem solve it herself.

And if even the creator couldn’t solve the problem…

If he couldn’t solve the problem, couldn’t he just deal with the person who had created it?

The more Tu Jin thought about it, the more reasonable it seemed. He looked matter-of-factly at the little doll, who still had an accusatory expression on her face but had at least stopped wailing.

“You’d better make me your master before this instance dungeon ends. Otherwise…”

Tu Jin didn’t finish his sentence, but he was confident that even without saying the rest, the little doll could understand what he meant.

“This instance dungeon will end in thirty days.”

Even Ye Jiujiu had never encountered such an approach before.

Her innocent, naive expression almost cracked.

    But only almost.

“But favorability isn’t something I can control! You’re so awful. Even if I wanted you to become my master, what am I supposed to do if my feelings refuse to cooperate?!”

The little doll looked so aggrieved that she seemed ready to start crying again.

“You’re deliberately making things difficult for me! If you want to kill me, just say so! You two-faced little piece of trash!”

Tu Jin, the awful little piece of trash: “…”

Well, this was completely unexpected, and yet, strangely enough, he wasn’t surprised at all.

    “I didn’t mean that.”

Having accepted that this doll was delicate, troublesome, unreasonable, spoiled, and all the other things that came with her temperament, Tu Jin maintained his smile.

“For these thirty days, as long as you think something will increase your favorability toward me, I’ll support you unconditionally.”

    Thirty days.

He would put up with this doll for thirty days.

As long as he could become her master within those thirty days, Tu Jin would accept it.

“Remember. Anything you want. My support is unconditional.”

    Hmm?

    Are you sure?

The little doll paused. She looked up at Tu Jin with an apparently innocent expression. After confirming that he seemed to be serious…

    Well, this was something.

Did this mean she’d managed to latch onto the biggest backer in the entire instance dungeon?

Ye Jiujiu’s fingertips moved almost imperceptibly.

Fortune favors the bold; the timid go hungry.

She had already managed to fool this idiot—Tu Jin—to this extent. There was no harm in tricking him a little more… or getting a few extra benefits out of him.

    And so, the question was:

Where exactly was the limit of Tu Jin’s promise to support her unconditionally in anything she wanted?

How far would he let her go?

Recalling the system’s description of Tu Jin’s personality, Ye Jiujiu remembered it was something like… cruel, naturally arrogant, and possessing no emotions—only an interest in profit?

There was no need to test whether he was cruel. His earlier behavior had already made that abundantly clear. As for having no emotions and caring only about profit, his actions had also confirmed that this was true.

Setting those two traits aside, only one remained…

    Arrogance?

If she wanted to test Tu Jin’s limits, she could start with that particular personality trait.

As for how to test him…

Ye Jiujiu slowly let her gaze settle on Tu Jin’s undeniably handsome face.

Her eyes traveled downward, passing his prominent Adam’s apple and the smooth lines of his figure before reaching the collar of his shirt. Even with the top button fastened, he somehow exuded a peculiar combination of untamed masculinity and restrained sensuality.

Come to think of it, hadn’t the system mentioned earlier that Tu Jin had consistently ranked among the most desirable male NPCs?

    “Do you have a girlfriend?”

    What?

Caught off guard by Ye Jiujiu’s sudden question, Tu Jin’s eyebrow twitched.

    “No.”

Women would only slow down his ability to earn points.

    “Why?”

    “Nothing…”

    Ye Jiujiu relaxed.

No girlfriend. That made things much easier.

She casually wiped away her tears and looked at Tu Jin with complete sincerity. Her expression was so solemn and serious that it was almost convincing.

“So, can I touch your abs?”

For a moment, Tu Jin genuinely thought he must have misheard.

    “…?”

He stared blankly at Ye Jiujiu. His expression gradually turned strange, revealing an unmistakable mixture of disbelief and shock.

“Do you even know what you’re saying?”

Clearly, the little doll knew exactly what she was saying.

“I promise I’ll only touch them.”

She continued looking at Tu Jin with the same earnest expression.

“I’ll just touch them. I won’t do anything else.”

Tu Jin was certain that his face must have become as colorful as a scrambled-up paint palette.

    “No. You. Can’t.”

He clenched his back teeth and rejected her decisively without a moment’s hesitation, each word pronounced separately. There was something almost terrifyingly paternal about the way he spoke, as though he were dealing with a child.

This doll had absolutely no shame!

Was that an appropriate request for a proper doll to make?

He had said he would indulge her, but he hadn’t said she could make lewd advances toward him!

And she was saying she’d only touch them and do nothing else?

Did she really think he would believe that?

    “Oh…”

The little doll pouted in disappointment.

She sat on the floor, wrapped her arms around her knees, and shuffled over to a corner. While watching Tu Jin, she began muttering under her breath, in what she assumed was a voice too quiet for him to hear.

“If you can’t let me touch them, then fine. But why do you have to look so angry?”

“Anyone who knew what was going on would think you were simply refusing. Anyone who didn’t might assume you don’t actually have abs, and I accidentally hit a sore spot, so now you’re embarrassed and angry.”

“No way, no way. Could this guy really not have abs? Is he seriously that pathetic?”

“And he still wants to be my master?”

“And this is what he calls unconditional support?”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Making empty promises makes your nose grow longer!”

“Wait. Could it actually be that he doesn’t have abs but a little belly instead, and he’s afraid I’ll find out? Is that why he refused?”

“And if he already has a little belly, could his hair be fake too? Is he wearing a wig?”

“No way, no way. Could he actually be bald on top?”

“I heard men with receding hairlines aren’t very capable… Have I just discovered something I wasn’t supposed to know?”

Tu Jin, who had heard every single word of her muttering: “…”

His fists clenched on the spot.

How should he put it? He reasonably suspected that the doll’s skill list had accidentally omitted one incredibly powerful ability: Psychological Attack.

    With a mouth like that…

He was becoming more and more convinced that the Puppeteer had abandoned this doll and fled as quickly as possible precisely because she wanted him to take over.

No. It wasn’t suspicion anymore. He was certain.

    Thirty days…

He only had to put up with her for thirty days…

Tu Jin, who could no longer tolerate it, walked expressionlessly up to the little doll. He reached out, grabbed his jacket, and yanked it open, exposing his lean, well-defined waist.

    See that?!

Damn it, he wasn’t bald on top, and he most certainly had abs!

    HE. WAS. VERY. CAPABLE!
