The Years I Spent as an Undercover Agent

Wen Jin’s Perspective:

Wen Jin was sent to the Southwest on a covert mission. While passing through Luzhou, he came across a scholar being hunted by thugs and stepped in to save him.

The scholar was gravely injured, cold and taciturn. Wen Jin tended to him with meticulous care, and the two eventually traveled south together.

Over time, Wen Jin’s affection for the scholar grew. He even convinced him to swear an oath before Guan Gong, becoming sworn brothers.

When they finally parted ways, Wen Jin grasped the scholar’s hand and said earnestly, “Brother, I’ve been entrusted with a heavy burden by the Martial Alliance. I must infiltrate the Heaven-Seizing Cult and kill that demon, Lan Yulang! Once I’ve won the day, I’ll come back to visit you.”

The scholar asked curiously, “The Demonic Cult is full of experts. How do you plan to kill their Cult Leader?”

Wen Jin blushed. “I heard that demon is fond of men. I’ll… I’ll…”

The scholar narrowed his eyes. “Oh.”

Lan Yulang’s Perspective:

Upon ascending to the throne of Cult Leader, Lan Yulang was betrayed by several priests who conspired to cripple his meridians, leaving him a broken man.

He fled to Luzhou. On the brink of death, he was saved by a beautiful young man with extraordinary martial skills who drew his blade to defend him.

Days later, Lan Yulang restored his cultivation and returned to the Heaven-Seizing Cult, determined to purge the traitors.

Just then, Wen Jin successfully infiltrated the cult, only to run straight into him.

“Big Brother?!” Wen Jin exclaimed in shock. “What are you doing here?!”

Lan Yulang thought for a moment and replied, “I’m here as an undercover agent too.”

Wen Jin: “…”

From the Cultists’ Perspective:

A cultist asked the daily routine question: “Has the Cult Leader executed that undercover agent from the Martial Alliance?”

The Cult Leader’s confidant replied, “No.”

The cultist asked again, “Then… did the Cult Leader’s cover get blown?”

The confidant answered, “No.”

The cultist was puzzled. “The Cult Leader is decisive and ruthless, never soft-hearted. Why is he being so merciful to an undercover agent?”

The confidant said, “Merciful? Not necessarily. When I passed by the Cult Leader’s bedchamber last night, I heard Wen Jin crying and begging for mercy. Clearly, the Cult Leader was furious and was punishing him.”
